About Well Water Authority

Who We Are

Well Water Authority is an independent resource for the 43 million U.S. households that rely on private wells for their drinking water.

We research, test, compare, and explain. We help well owners understand their water test results and choose the right treatment systems.

What We Believe

  • Independence first. We take zero sponsorships from manufacturers. Our revenue comes from affiliate commissions, disclosed on every page.
  • Start with the problem, not the product. We diagnose your water issue first. Product recommendations follow from your specific numbers.
  • Show the work. Every claim is cited. Every article includes numbered references to EPA standards, peer-reviewed research, and state health data.
  • No fear-mongering. We provide context with every number. "This is concerning" when it is. "This is an aesthetic issue" when it is. Always honest.
  • Always a next step. Every page ends with a clear action: test this, install that, call this professional.

How We Make Money

We earn affiliate commissions when you purchase products through links on our site. This is how we fund our research and keep the site free.

What this means:

  • We earn a small percentage when you buy through our links.
  • You pay the same price whether you use our link or not.
  • Commissions do not influence our rankings or recommendations.
  • We recommend what works, not what pays the most.
  • Every page with affiliate links includes a visible disclosure above the fold.

Our affiliate partners include SpringWell, SoftPro, Tap Score, Amazon, and others. We maintain relationships with multiple brands so we are never dependent on any single partner.

Our Content Standards

  • Every article is reviewed for accuracy by a water treatment professional.
  • Every technical term includes a tooltip definition so you never have to leave the page to Google something.
  • Every article includes 8–12+ references citing EPA standards, peer-reviewed studies, and state health department data.
  • Every article shows its last-updated date. We update content when products change, prices shift, or regulations update.
  • We write at a 3rd-5th grade reading level. Water chemistry is complex. Our explanations should not be.
