Signs Your Sulfur Filter Is Failing

Common Installation Mistakes
- Putting the softener first. Sulfur and iron foul softener resin. The sulfur filter always goes ahead of the softener.
- Undersizing the drain line. Backwash needs a full-flow drain with an air gap. A garden hose into a floor drain is not enough.
- Ignoring well yield. If your well produces 5 GPM and the system needs 10 GPM to backwash, the bed never cleans. Check yield before you buy.
- Treating a water heater problem with a whole-house system. If only the hot water smells, replace the anode rod for about $40 instead.
